Barquentine

"Barquentine, the lynch-pin son of Sourdust, is a stunted and cantankerous pedant of seventy, a one-legged thing who smites his way through the ill-lit corridors on a grim and echoing crutch."

When his ancient father died in the burning up of the library, Barquentine stepped into his shoes (or rather, his shoe) as the Master of Ritual, and unwisely (though how was he to know?) took for his assistant the instigator of the burning, Steerpike.

Barquentine is played by Warren Mitchell in the BBC series
